Everyone elected on November 3 takes office on Wednesday, January 13, 2027, and I'll update this list then. Calls and emails to legislators' Capitol offices reach them during the session and most weeks outside it. The Illinois General Assembly switchboard is (217) 782-2000.

County boards, school boards and the Legislature meet in public, and most take public comment. Each meeting below says where it came from: the body's own calendar, its published dates, or its regular schedule, which can change. Confirm the time before you go.

Your county government and school boards

Each of Illinois' 102 counties elects a county board; a few counties call theirs a board of commissioners, and Cook County's is the Board of Commissioners. Many counties are also divided into townships, and cities, villages and school districts each elect their own boards.

The Illinois General Assembly

The 2027 session starts on Wednesday, January 13, 2027.

Anyone can file an electronic witness slip for a bill before its committee hearing through the General Assembly dashboard at https://my.ilga.gov, stating support, opposition or no position. Written testimony goes to the committee's email address as a PDF, at least one hour before the hearing. To testify out loud remotely, file a witness slip and then email the committee with your name, the bill, the hearing and your position: the House asks for this at least 24 hours before the hearing, and the Senate by noon the day before. Senate remote testimony is not open to registered lobbyists.
